My plan of making a turntable with an adjustable speed motor failed. I had to connect the battery holder and the motor to the circuit board; this did achieve a spinning motion, however this wasn't nearly fast enough and it soon stopped. The turntable needed to rotate around 30 RPM; and after research into this type of mechanism, I found that record players spin at a similar speed (33/45/78 RPM). I picked up a cheap record player and figure that I can attach sculptures straight onto the records themselves!

Firstly, I used a protractor to divide the record into 12 pieces (360/12=30degrees)

As this is only the test of my zoetrope I decided to attempt a simple animation; using polymer clay I made 12 spheres gradually getting larger in size and placed each one on the 30degrees points.

As you can see, the animation didn't quite work. The balls should have been seen as if one ball was increasing in size. I think that the problems are as follows:

How can this correspond to my project? 

The idea that the image in the shroud was created by the body of Christ glowing, is a rather interesting idea. Perhaps I can experiment with lights beneath cloth? I could make my own forgery of the shroud and light it in a way that would have been impossible at the time; without a miracle of course. I could have an ethereal glow and try and recreate the resurrection in a modern way perhaps?
