"Visual information is forwarded to the brain, where it is processed, interpreted and translated into sensory impressions. Generally speaking, visual perception is the product of filtering and reducing data, which enables us to depict our environment distinctly. We envisioned a sculpture that displays an animation in the open physical space."

This piece is simply breathtaking, and far more advanced than I could ever hope to achieve; without a 3D printer anyway.  The intricacy of the pattern on the surface only makes the animation more impressive. Using a 3D printer to create a zoetrope, quite an old form of animation, is a lovely juxtaposition of the old and new. This is exactly what I am hoping to achieve in my project as I am animating the Saints who were worshipped  so profusely, predominantly in medieval times. I am trying to literally materialise them and bring them back to life in the 21st century. I'm essentially resurrecting the saints to show them the modern world and how far we've progressed. I know that my work has humorous connotations, however I think that I can present my ideas in a beautiful way whilst still pushing the funnier and controversial side.
