Each clay sculpture was then cast into another 3 pieces using alginate and plaster. I faced a problem with the long border pieces as they were so long, they were easily breakable with almost no force applied. I decided that the breakages were fixable with glue and if anything a crack could make the reliquary more aged and effective. The pieces in the centre, in my original drawing, were supposed to be facing the other way, with the curved edge against the border. I turned these around as the two straight edges look far better together.
