Zoetropes
Below is an example of a homemade zoetrope using a record player and 3D prints of a horse in various positions, when spun and lit with a strobe lights, the illusion of motion is produced from a rapid movement of static sculptures. If the flash of the strobe is too long then the images will blur, and if too short the wheel looks dim as your eyes haven't had enough time to respond to the light.
After referring to several YouTube tutorials and seeking advice from my friends who study electronics, I have decided that this 3D zoetrope is achievable if I calculate everything properly. I will first need to design a wheel spinning mechanism, control the speed, match this to a strobe light, then adjust everything according to my sculptures (frames).
Below is the most amazing zoetrope made for Disney World Florida. It contains several different mechanisms; rolling balls, jumping characters, waving characters and a series of props moving. I will next need to explore these various movements and discover how they can be achieved using my zoetrope. Obviously this Disney World zoetrope has been put in place to show children a form of animation before the digitalised motion pictures. I would like to
